Many of the Archives Department's holdings come from donations by faculty, administrators, friends and former affiliates of the Medical Center. The staff of the Archives Department welcomes the opportunity to review collections that may have significant historic or scholarly value to the archives and to the Medical Center.
Archives welcomes donations of personal papers and memorabilia documenting people, places, events, and experiences at Duke University Medical Center.
Donations of such collections may be accepted in whole or in part, depending on certain criteria, including condition of the material, format, and overall scholarly research value. The storage environment for these archives, manuscripts, and drawings is carefully monitored to provide a controlled climate and proper security for long-term preservation. Donations added to manuscript and memorabilia collections are available to the public for research in the Duke University Medical Center Archives Reading Room located at 1408-A Christian Avenue.
